ABOUT ME
Azaria is a writer from Virginia. She is a first-generation college graduate of the University of Lynchburg and a graduate of the MFA program at Butler University. She is currently a doctoral student at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. She was a TED Residency Finalist in 2018, a recipient of the Martha’s Vineyard Institute of Creative Writing Author Fellowship and a Kimibilio Fiction Fellow. Her work has been published or is forthcoming in Honey Literary, Sand Hills Magazine, Lucky Jefferson’s AWAKE, and The Georgia review. In 2023, she won The Plaza Prizes’ first place Flash Fiction prize. In 2024, she was a recipient of Writer’s grant from In Cahoots, which enabled her to experience her first residency. She writes magical realism stories about family and relationship dynamics, spirituality, religion, death, Black people and Black things. Her writing often bridges pop culture, folklore and cultural commentary.
